Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche

The National Research Council (CNR) is the largest public research institution in Italy, the only one under the Research Ministry performing multidisciplinary activities. The mission of CNR is to perform research in its own Institutes, to promote innovation and competitiveness of the national industrial system, to promote the internationalization of the national research system, to provide technologies and solutions to emerging public and private needs, to advice Government and other public bodies, and to contribute to the qualification of human resources. Within this project the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Systems and Technologies for Advanced Manufacturing (STIIMA) is directly involved.

The activities of STIIMA aim at product, process and organization innovation in different research areas: mechatronic systems, robotics, microsystems, virtual prototyping, integrated simulation of production systems, new organizational, management and business paradigms. STIIMA is partner in many European projects concerning robotics and important international research networks. The institute participates in standardization activities in Robotics (ISO/TC 299) and Machine Safety (ISO/TC 199), with a solid experience in terms of risk assessment in collaborative robotic applications. The development of new devices include all the phases of the development and validation cycle, making use of skills in the fields of mechanics, electronics and information technology.

It makes use of in-house technologies for the realization of functional and complete prototypes, both in research projects and in industrial collaborations.
